WEBSITE
Óscar Farfán’s work moves between documentary photography and visual critique, crafting images that explore power relations through the notions of record and memory. His practice investigates traces of labor, structural violence, and historical absence, constructing a visual language where the political and the poetic intertwine. Through precise formal strategies and sustained attention, Farfán turns photography into a tool for evocation and resistance.
He has exhibited his work individually and collectively at national and international institutions including the Cantor Arts Center (Stanford University, USA), Centre Pompidou (Chengdu, China), Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín (Colombia), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, Museo Carrillo Gil, Centro de la Imagen (Mexico City), Centro Cultural de España (Guatemala and Mexico), the FEMSA Biennial (Monterrey), PhotoEspaña (Madrid), and the Oaxaca Photography Biennial. His work is held in institutional collections such as the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO), the FEMSA Collection, the Museo Carrillo Gil, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, among others.
