Marilyn Boror in residence at Art Omi

Marilyn Boror Bor (San Juan Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, 1984) has been selected as one of the 24 international artists who will participate in Art Omi Artists 2026, one of the world's most prestigious contemporary art residency programs. Each year, the program brings together a select group of artists from around the globe in New York State, United States.

An artist, curator, art educator, and Maya Kaqchikel cultural manager, Marilyn Boror Bor's practice is deeply committed to exploring Indigenous identity, historical memory, colonialism, and forms of cultural resistance. Her work has been featured in major international platforms, including the Aichi Triennale (2025), the 13th Leandre Cristòfol Art Biennial (2025), the 35th São Paulo Biennial (2023), and BienalSur (2022), as well as exhibitions throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and North America.

Art Omi fosters a space for research, artistic creation, and interdisciplinary exchange, where artists, critics, and curators live and work together for several weeks, developing their practices within an environment of critical dialogue and collaboration. Each edition brings together approximately two dozen established artists working across disciplines such as visual arts, performance, sound art, and socially engaged practice, encouraging exchange with New York's contemporary art community and strengthening international networks.

The program includes a visit to the Art Omi Studio Barn on Saturday, July 11, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., as part of Art Omi Artists Open Studios, where visitors can experience the works developed by the resident artists during the program. The event is free and open to the public.

Marilyn Boror will be in residence at Art Omi, New York, during June and July 2026.
